Translation:

When it is said to them, "Follow the Commands that Allah has sent down," they reply, "We will follow only what we found our forefathers practising. Well, will they go on following their forefathers even though they did not use common sense and did not find the right way?

Translit: Waitha qeela lahumu ittabiAAoo ma anzala Allahu qaloo bal nattabiAAu ma alfayna AAalayhi abaana awalaw kana abaohum la yaAAqiloona shayan wala yahtadoona

Translation:

And when you have performed your Hajj rites, remember Allah as you had been remembering your own forefathers, or even with greater zeal.221 (Even those who remember Allah do it in different ways). Some say, "Our Lord, give us all the good things here in this world. " Such people shall have no share in the Hereafter.

Translit: Faitha qadaytum manasikakum faothkuroo Allaha kathikrikum abaakum aw ashadda thikran famina alnnasi man yaqoolu rabbana atina fee alddunya wama lahu fee alakhirati min khalaqin

Translation:

And when it is said to them, "Come to the Law which Allah has sent down and to the Messenger," they reply, "Sufficient for us is the way on which we found our forefathers. What! will they go on following their forefathers, even if they knew nothing, and were quite ignorant of the Right Way?

Translit: Waitha qeela lahum taAAalaw ila ma anzala Allahu waila alrrasooli qaloo hasbuna ma wajadna AAalayhi abaana awalaw kana abaohum la yaAAlamoona shayan wala yahtadoona

Translation:

Whenever these people commit a shameful deed, they say. "We found our forefathers doing this, and Allah Himself has enjoined us to do this." Say to them, "Allah never enjoins a shameful thing. Do you attribute to Allahs name and say things which you know not to be from Him?"

Translit: Waitha faAAaloo fahishatan qaloo wajadna AAalayha abaana waAllahu amarana biha qul inna Allaha la yamuru bialfahshai ataqooloona AAala Allahi ma la taAAlamoona

Then We changed their adversity for good fortune till they became very prosperous and said, "Our forefathers also had their adversity and prosperity". At last We seized them all of a sudden when they were quite unaware.

Translation:

O Believers, do not take your fathers and brothers as allies, if. they choose disbelief in preference to Faith; for whoso of you will take them as allies shall surely be the workers of iniquity.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tattakhithoo abaakum waikhwanakum awliyaa ini istahabboo alkufra AAala aleemani waman yatawallahum minkum faolaika humu alththalimoona

Translation:

Whenever Guidance came before the people nothing prevented them from believing in it except this (excuse): they said: "Did Allah send a human being as His Messenger?"

Translation:

Have the disbelievers never considered the Word? Or, has he brought something the like of which had not come to their forefathers?

Translation:

And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allah has sent down," they say, "We shall only follow that upon which we found our forefathers." What! Will they still be following them even if Satan had been calling them to the raging Fire?

Translit: Waitha qeela lahumu ittabiAAoo ma anzala Allahu qaloo bal nattabiAAu ma wajadna AAalayhi abaana awalaw kana alshshaytanu yadAAoohum ila AAathabi alssaAAeeri

Translation:

Call your adopted sons after their fathers' names: this is more just in the sight of Allah. And if you do not know who their fathers are, then they are your brothers in faith and your friends. There is no blame on you if you say something unintentionally, but you will surely be to blame for what you say with the intention of your hearts. Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

Translit: OdAAoohum liabaihim huwa aqsatu AAinda Allahi fain lam taAAlamoo abaahum faikhwanukum fee alddeeni wamawaleekum walaysa AAalaykum junahun feema akhtatum bihi walakin ma taAAammadat quloobukum wakana Allahu ghafooran raheeman

Translation:

Even so, whenever before you We sent a Warner to a habitation, its people of means said, "We have found our forefathers on a way and we are only following in their footsteps."

Translit: Wakathalika ma arsalna min qablika fee qaryatin min natheerin illa qala mutrafooha inna wajadna abaana AAala ommatin wainna AAala atharihim muqtadoona

Every Prophet asked them,â€ Will you still go on following the same old way even if I guide you to a more right way than that you found your forefathers following?" They replied, "We disbelieve the religion with which you have been sent."

Translation:

You will never find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day loving those who have opposed Allah and His Messenger, even though they be their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kinsfolk. They are those in whose hearts Allah has inscribed faith and has strengthened them with a spirit from Himself. He will admit them to such Gardens underneath which rivers will be flowing, to dwell there in for ever. Allah is well pleased with them and they with Allah. They are of Allah's party. Know it well that those of Allah's party alone are truly successful!

Translit: La tajidu qawman yuminoona biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri yuwaddoona man hadda Allaha warasoolahu walaw kanoo abaahum aw abnaahum aw ikhwanahum aw AAasheeratahum olaika kataba fee quloobihimu aleemana waayyadahum biroohin minhu wayudkhiluhum jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha radiya Allahu AAanhum waradoo AAanhu olaika hizbu Allahi ala inna hizba Allahi humu almuflihoona
